Right now is a good time to log in or create an account at www.act.org if you are wanting to take the test this spring. * Nearby testing locations include Belmond, Hampton, Forest City and Mason City. *Register on www.act.org. *Create an account first if you do not have one. *Students who have free/reduced lunch paperwork filed with the front office qualify for a fee-waiver. Talk to Mr. Albertson if you need a fee-waiver for the ACT test. If you want to take Composition I next year, you will need to score at least a 16 on the English section of the ACT. Register for Composition I with Mr. Albertson before the last day of school, register (for best results) in April. Many Colleges and Universities do not require the ACT for entrance into their institution, but if students can take the ACT, it can improve the possibility of obtaining an academic scholarship at the college level depending on final score. BK is currently experiencing an internet outage. If parents/community members are emailing any staff, they are not able to respond as of yet. There is a 2 hour delay on Friday, January 19th 2024 due to the inclement weather and anticipated wind chill temperatures. No morning preschool, practices and breakfast is not served.

The JH girls basketball game scheduled with North Iowa for tonight (1/18) has been cancelled.

The Belmond Klemme Board of Education meets once per month at the high school library. The process for the public to attend has changed due to to new safety/security guidelines. All who attend shall enter at the front entrance and go through the front office. Each attendee must sign in and receive a sticker to wear. The board attendance sheet will also be in the front office and must be signed prior to entrance into the main building. All BoE public speaking cards will also be in the front office. Thank you all for your understanding and working with Belmond Klemme to keep everyone safe.

​1.18.24 Dear Families and Staff: As you may have heard on the news, yesterday a number of law enforcement agencies across the state and nation received anonymous “swatting” calls referencing active shooter situations in schools. We have been advised by law enforcement that these types of calls are not credible and are designed to trigger the dispatch of emergency services to a particular address as a hoax. The Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) is collaborating with the Iowa Department of Education (DOE) and communicating with school districts regarding swatting calls directed at Iowa schools. While our district did not receive such a call, the purpose of this message is to let you know that we are prepared if we do. Our first priority is (and will always be) to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Thus, any and all threats will be taken seriously and may result in the mobilization of our safety procedures (including lockdown) out of an abundance of caution. Please know that we will communicate with you as soon as we are able in these situations. Our first priority is always to ensure the safety of those we serve which can result in slight delays in communication. It’s extremely unfortunate that our local law enforcement partners are dealing with these kinds of calls. Responding creates a great amount of undue stress for everyone, including parents and students, which is why there are serious consequences for those that participate in this type of criminal behavior.
